Sleep Tight.

For those that we loved
Memories we locked away
For photos of times
We all shared such good days
For the eternal gift
Of playing such a part
For the chance to have cradled
Such amazing hearts
For songs we created
But never sang out loud
For warm handshakes
Kept locked in the clouds
For all the smiles and happily cried tears
For our friendships
That shaped us over the years
For all those we have lost
We say our prayers
For all our courage
Every thing we shared
For all that we remember
The lives we achieved
For all those we miss
I raise a glass to Thee

Here With Dad.

That old tin bath
Left out in the Sun
On sweet dewed grass
Warm glimmered waters run
Dad was a Soldier
A farmer  A great Soul
He gave us amazing Summers
And taught us how to grow
Picking Apples
In fields of green
Sat upon the tractor
Huge smiles that beamed
We never just had one day
It was life's Holiday of fun
So much laughter
So much play
But if I could choose
Just one amazing moment
It would all that is held
In that Christmas torment
Sprinkled Magic
That warm log fire
Presents with ribbons
Petty paper to admire
A cold winters evening
Chestnuts with hot cups of tea
A Father so happy
With me resting on his knee.

Magic In Thee.

A shimmering wood
That contains the stars
Of wonderous Magic
Full of silver Moon shards
A box of power
A box of goals
It has a  heart
Within a beating soul
Key of silver
Platinum charm
Ancient Chants protect it
So it can't
Cause harm
Cross inlaid
To keep Demons away
Just a wodden box ?
Who can say ?
Once you are told
Stories and ryhmes
Mysterious things
Take a hold
You can't help but question
Sanity's plea
Is that little box Magic ?
Will it move the heavens
Or melt the sea ?
Blessing or a curse
Which story to believe ?
I sit in front of it
No will to leave
But to  walk away ?
Forget all these Myths ?
Could this small box
Be part of a gift ?
Can I unlock secrets ?
Make Wishes come true ?
Oh little Pandora's Box
What shall I do ?

That Sweet Red.

She tried so hard to put it down
That glass in her hand
In which her life drowned
Sweet taste
That blurred her head
Stopped her thinking
Her emotions laid dead
Color red
Spilt on her chin
Dropped to the floor
A puddle of sin
Taken over
That bottle or few
A breakfast
Lasting the whole day through
Into the nights
With a hand full of pills
Sickened duvets
A struggle of will
Life never used to be this way
She reminisced of dance floors
Where she once swayed
Pretty tunes still come to her head
Along with memories
Soon lost in dread
How could such beauty
Be torn from this face
Hagered eyes,  wrinkles
Cover this once golden grace
Her life was changed
In one quick glance
Sitting by a bottle
No longer stands a chance
Love has flown
And left her be
With a glass of sweet red
Resting on her Knee

The Old Modern.

It may be modern times we hold
But who doesn't wonder
At stories of old
Ancient relatives
Songs of war
Historical notebooks
Journels in store
Each day we add a second penned line
In verse in pages
In books all bind
Footprints of past
Hand prints of gold
Who can but wonder
At stories of old

The Life They Live.

Gambling Man
Empty pockets
Drunken Woman
Clutching her pretty locket
Old Man
Walks the Street
Shuffling each step
With time to keep
Disturbed housewife
Wondering why
The walls don't talk back
Are they shy ?
Graceful Dancer
Twirling to a tune
Forgetting what happened
On a dark day in June
Bala clavered head
Breaking the door
Will fill his bag
With all that's in store
Distant lawn mower
With an owner that sighs
Bees buzzing round
Sunflowers high
A happy child
Looking at the Sun
In his hand
A Cowboy's gun
Teenagers waiting
For School to end
Summer vacations
Just around the bend
We all live
Such different lives
Some of them good
A few of them sad
That gambling Man shouts
To a devil of class
That drunken woman stumbles
With her Demon filled glass
Life swallows us all
With stories to be told
A legacy set
In  a page of gold.

Scrolls

Beautiful day
Collums of gold
Laid down from the Sun
On Earth of old
Rainbowed skies
Over crystal trees
The fish in the river
Swim with such ease
A dog's bark
A child's cry
Lovers in laughter
But here I lie
With notebook and pen
Of  ideas and dreams
Life gone by
Papered edges stained at the seems
I have conquered so much
Over my years
Told many stories
Cried many tears
Trodden paths
Put down many goals
Failed in some
Left footprints in scrolls
Watched many smiles
Shared all loves
But on this dewed grass
I hand to the Dove
Hopes of my future
Past wrapped in sheets
So she can take flight
And float on the breeze
Whispering my thoughts
Amongst the Bees
